Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that building a new home is a big decision, and with big decisions come many questions.

That’s why we’ve got the answers to remove the guess work and put your mind at ease…

A Systembuilt modular home is one that is built indoors in a factory-like setting. The finished products are then transported to their new locations, where they are completed by one of Systembuilts’ specialised contractors.

A Systembuilt home is not a mobile home; it is simply a home that is built off-site, as opposed to on-site. These homes are often called factory-built, prefab (short for prefabricated) homes, or in our case Systembuilt.

With everything included from exterior finishes through to details like tapware and cabinetry, a Systembuilt modular home simply needs to be connected to your property’s services and the good life begins.

Construction begins approximately six months after contract signing.

This is the standard period covering everything from general administration to council approval processes.

Once the above approvals have been received, construction of your home will commence.

From commencement of construction, your home will be complete and ready for delivery in 50 working days – that is our guarantee to you.

Custom designed homes may require additional construction times, but any changes to our 50 working day construction guarantee will be discussed upfront at the time of signing your contract.

Our 50 years of experience means that we can build your home efficiently and without compromising quality.

You’ll simply need to provide your friendly sales consultant with a copy of your certificate of title, a mud-map showing your proposed home location and orientation in relation to your block layout, plus details of your finance.

We require your unconditional finance approval and confirmation of your bank’s agreed payment terms.

This should be discussed with your bank prior to signing, to ensure progress payments can be made on construction of your transportable home.

A deposit, no.

A Preliminary Services Fee, Yes.

Our Preliminary Services Fee is an in-part, refundable, once-off payment that covers contract administration and all documentation, all plans and elevations, insurance, energy rating reports, soil & contour reports, engineering, plus the entire council planning approval, building certification and development approval process.

All taken care of by us.

We also include a full colour selection process as part of our contract administration process.

After the initial Preliminary Services Fee, you are not required to make any further payments until the commencement of construction.

The amount of each progress payment stage must relate to the work completed for the Stage.

The Building Work Contractors Act prohibits a builder from claiming or demanding a progress payment in advance of the work being carried out.

You will be required to make between three (3) and five (5) progress payments relating to stages of construction, which will be outlined in your contract.

A final balance will then be payable upon handover and occupancy of your new home.

You may qualify for a deferred payment option which can also be discussed with your sales consultant prior to signing of your contract with Systembuilt Homes.

While progress payments are good for some, others simply need more flexibility when it comes to financing their new home.

That’s why we give you the option to defer payments until the completion of construction – you simply make one final payment upon handover and bank valuation – giving you more power in the lending process and a whole less to worry about.
